Charlie Brown's Restaurant - Hackettstown, NJ - April, 2006

This lovely restaurant which serves the residents and visitors of Hackettstown, NJ, was once a thriving hotel/brothel in the early 1900's. Rumor has it that a woman drowned or was murdered in a bathtub on the third floor around that time period. There are also reports of the ghost of a small child that wanders that floor as well. Other investigators have mentioned using mediums or psychics as part of their crew while investigating Charlie Brown's. One psychic came in touch with the spirit of a very angry man that still roams the property. Apparently this fellow hung himself on a tree that once stood outside the hotel. No one knows why, but his spirit still lingers there today, angry as ever. Maybe it wasn't suicide. Or maybe he hung himself after he drowned the woman in the bathtub. Who knows. But I will tell you this; as my daughter and I investigated this delapidated and very creaky third floor, I was overcome with nausea as we entered the "red room", the only room that had a bathtub. Jaclyn felt queasy as well, but wanted to go further. I needed to go down to the second floor and relax a while before returning to her side. Despite these occurances our perseverence paid off and we were very fortunate to catch an EVP of a child calling for his or her "Mommy". This EVP is posted on the home page.

I'd also like to mention the one picture we took while in one of the bedrooms. You'll see it has a hazy yellow hue to it. The young lady in front of the camera with her back to us seems to be reaching or pointing to her right. Where did her arm go? You can see her left arm clearly, but the right is missing at the end of her 3/4 length sleeve. Was this some kind of vortex caught on camera? Did she reach unknowingly into a paranormal dimension? This building is known for it's strange paranormal activity, which is why we were there.

You'll also see a few pictures of some interesting orbs - maybe the eternal occupants were "curious" about us, too.

Below are some photos of Charlie Brown's haunted third floor.
